The Company

In June 2018, we will make history by launching a category defining vaping device in the UK following four years of intensive development. AYR is a vaping solution like no other. AYR mimics the ritual of smoking whilst dispensing with the harmful aspects that come from burning tobacco and our aim is simple; we want to move as many people away from smoking cigarettes as possible. We believe that AYR is the first vaping device that people will want to be seen with. Put simply, AYR looks amazing. But AYR is so much more than a beautiful object, AYR connects with your smartphone and gives the user full control over their vaping experience. AYR measures intake and even enables users to quit nicotine altogether through our own range of flavour formulations. In short, AYR is very special and our product team is working hard to polish and perfect AYR ahead of launch.

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for career driven individuals to join a category-defining premium vape company. Headquartered in Central London (with offices in Moscow), this rapidly growing organisation is seeking dynamic business development managers to join their launch team. The successful candidates will play an active role in laying the foundations for this exciting business.

Focusing initially on London’s luxury markets within on-trade , high end vape stores and influencer outlets, the Business Development Managers will work very closely with the Sales Director , planning agency and the Trade Marketing team.

The Role

  • Representing and developing a strong brand primarily in the Vape Sector, On-Trade and influencer channels
  • Travelling around London primarily and the UK visiting potential clients and servicing/maintaining existing ones
  • Generating new leads in the form of stockists and retailers – closing deals
  • Building high-level relationships with clients and distributors
  • Developing and implementing initiatives for the company to successfully hit its sales targets
  • Expanding the end-user base of AYR both on and offline
  • Regularly reporting to company directors and presenting sales projections and forecasts
  • Managing activation agency relationships to run on-premise and Vape store events
  • Managing / Supporting a calendar of activation events with key clients and customers
  • Supporting the marketing team to ensure all company efforts are aligned
  • Communicating all programs, developments and post-promotion analysis on a regular basis
  • Ensuring any initiatives have clear metrics and are achieving appropriate return on investment in line with overall objectives
  • Delivering regular reporting of results against metrics, with proposals for improvements
  • Carrying out post-campaign analysis to report KPIs and distribute learning for future campaigns
  • Complete competitor benchmarking for similar activities and report regularly to key stakeholders

Required Skills

  • Experience bringing and developing new business with luxury/high end companies / On-trade relationships or existing contacts in the sector or similar
  • Strong Sales background
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • A natural business flare, willing to work from the ground up within a start-up to build a successful business
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Start-up mentality
  • Test and learn, be comfortable with rapidly changing diverse needs and projects
  • Creativity, ability to develop creative initiatives that resonate with the target audience to achieve sales goals
  • Highly confident with excellent presentation skills
  • Communicate effectively with all levels
  • Work cross-functionally within a medium-sized, flexible organization
  • Project management, ability to handle multiple work streams simultaneously with excellent personal organizational skills and high attention to detail

Preferred skills 

  • Significant experience in the retail industry/ commercial functions ideally in a highly regulated environment (vaping, health, alcohol industries)
  • On-trade / FMCG / Luxury experience / Vape Channel
  • Self-starter – Effective working independently and ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Understand retail, passionate about trade and channel marketing, and a strong eye for detail and process management
  • Passion, energy and enthusiasm for the vape category
